September 15 Event at Buffalo RiverWorks
A rare Monday Quarterback Club luncheon event was reminiscent of the past, and our special guests brought us back to the Bills glory days, as well, as this kick-off event featured several Bills All-Pros. Special guests included James Lofton, Pro Football Hall of Famer, former All-Pro and three-time AFC champion Bills wide receiver, as well as Pete Metzelaars, former Bills tight end and four-time AFC champion. The all-star cast of attendees also included Ted Cottrell, former Buffalo Bills defensive coordinator. Hall of fame guard Billy Shaw, and former Bills cornerback Marlon Kerner were also in attendance. Jay Skurski of the Buffalo News was our media guest, and our own Paul Peck served as moderator.
James and Ted told never-heard stories of Bills Hall of famer Bruce Smith, whose number was retired at the Bills game that same day. Both men also provided "inside the huddle" stories about the Bills of the super bowl era. Billy provided an update on what he was up to, and also gave some gentle ribbing to James, including his view on how "receivers get all the credit" on game day. Our special guests took time to answer our questions, and pose for photos and autographs. When all was said and done, it was another signature Monday Quarterback Club event on the Buffalo waterfront.
